Background:
Shihan Stacey Karetsian, 5th Dan Black Belt, is the Assistant Chief Instructor and Executive Vice President for GKR Karate International. He has been with GKR since 1991. Stacey oversees all of GKR’s karate, management and operations worldwide and is responsible for maintaining GKR’s growth and development internationally.
Stacey started his martial arts training as a 12 year old in Whyalla, South Australia at the local Shotokan Club. He trained there with his two younger brothers until over the next few years, they all earned their black belts.
Moving to Adelaide in 1989 he met Kancho Robert Sullivan who appointed Stacey to be trained in teaching and management in the GKR organisation. Within a few short months Stacey was not only training but teaching 4 days a week.
1993 Stacey moved to Sydney and over the next 2 years was promoted to Senior Instructor/Zone Director of the Australian Northern Zone, encompassing NSW, Canberra and Queensland.
In 2000 Kancho Robert Sullivan appointed Stacey as GKR’s Assistant Chief Instructor and Executive Vice President, and in July that year earned the title of Shihan (meaning master instructor).
Shihan Stacey Karetsian is currently residing with his family in the UK.
